2024 - The Best of the Bunch

What a year this has been for my photographic journey. I shot 21,474 photos as of December 11th and will likely shoot a few more before 2024 truly wraps. I went on photo trips to Great Sand Dunes National Park, the Wind River Range, Four Pass Loop, and Alaska. I saw (and photographed) the northern lights for the first time and, just this week, I saw a Snowy Owl soaring around my apartment building (phone picture included here). Finally, and maybe most importantly, I created this website and I am proud to say that I found what I believe to be my purpose with photography - sharing my adventures in both photo and word form. To say that this year has been a blessing would be an understatement and I am so excited for 2025 and the years that follow.

In my newsletter this week I mentioned the idea of yearly themes and, I have to admit, I cannot remember what mine was this year. So, in retrospect, I think it was a year of commitment. Not only did I go on more adventures than ever and really dive headfirst into this photography hobby, but I am also starting the biggest adventure of my life with Staci after we got engaged on a backpacking trip in Wyoming this summer. Next year I’ve decided will be a year of Discovery as I have a personal goal to go on MANY NEW ADVENTURES, photographing all of them, writing about most of them, and maybe, just maybe, delving into the videography side of things just a smidge. But before I get ahead of myself, with this blog post I wanted to look back at the incredible year that was 2024.

VERY IMPORTANT: Click to open the images below - each has a short description to go along with its title.

I’ll start things off with one of my favorite categories from this year, one that is extremely convenient for every photographer: My own backyard. All the photos in this section were shot within 30 minutes of home on day hikes or short adventures.

This next section is devoted to Wildlife! While I do not focus on getting images of them as a discipline (I enjoy landscape so so much), I do get quite lucky pretty often.

Lastly, and probably most importantly, I want to share an assortment of Landscapes Around North America. I had a hard time choosing a reasonable number of images for this section in particular…

Thank you so very much for taking the time to explore this blog post. I know the images were plentiful this time around and there is a lot to take in. Please leave a comment below with the image you enjoyed seeing most and why, I’d love to hear from you :)
